Requesting Start Date
Hi all,
What is/has been the general start date for new associates at a Biglaw firm in NY? My firm had not yet set a start date at the time that I received my offer letter, but I was told that most associates start after Labor Day. Would it be appropriate to request the start date now—since it appears that many of my peers have finalized their start dates—or should I wait?
Any and all insight is appreciated. Thanks!

What's the big rush? Just wait. I'm pretty sure they know they need to communicate a start date to you and your class.

I think the plurality is right around Oct. 1, but every firm is different.

Some people might be trying to plan vacations. It's hrs job to do this shit. Email them and ask for your start date is perfectly fine. If it's set they will email back. If not they'll let you know.Redamon1 wrote:What's the big rush? Just wait. I'm pretty sure they know they need to communicate a start date to you and your class.

HR probably doesn't know yet. No harm in asking I guess.
