NYC Sublet Timeline

I've been having trouble finding a good sublet for the summer, after searching for the last couple weeks. One part of me is thinking that I missed the best stuff and it is already off the market. However, some friends have been telling me that in NY you shouldn't look for an apartment until 4-6 weeks before you want to move in. Is this true for sublets as well? Did I already miss the boat on good deals or should I hold off for a bit?

It's still too early. Worth keeping an eye out but most stuff won't come up for another month at least.

Different anon - and are we supposed to be finding these listings on Craigslist? Any other sites I should be checking?

I'm sure it's been discussed elsewhere, but don't have the time/energy to search the other threads haha

ETA: talking about NYC specifically
