IP Interview Qs (non-science/math bg)

I have a screening interview with an IP lit firm tomorrow. I've always wanted to do this work but screwed up by not majoring in science/math in undergrad. This firm does mostly soft IP though so I don't need to sit for the bar. So, I'm really excited about it.

However, i've never interviewed for this practice area before. I'm really interested in it, but my interest comes from the entertainment side. I don't want to give the impression i'm into entertainment law (which I am), but idk how i can talk about my interest otherwise and explain how I got interested in IP law. any advice? other general advice not related to this question is also great too. thanks!

What kind of soft IP are you talking about? Copyright/trademark/trade secret litigation? Trademark prosecution?

Basically trademark and copyright litigation.

There are very few attorneys in the entire country who practice exclusively (or primarily) in copyright/trademark litigation, so I doubt many people on here could help you.

Focus on the cases the firm has taken and look at why they appeal to you. Look at the specific cases they have won and figure out what those cases were protecting and why you would want to be a part of that. That will move you away from just 'entertainment'. Do read up on some of their patent lit cases too and you may find that they arent so difficult to understand- it would up your willingness to be a part of the IP world.
