How do you think firms would feel about an associate taking a leave of absence after they spend their 2L summer there?

Say, spending that summer there, taking a year off, not spending the following summer there, then doing 3L, then coming in as a full associate? So, essentially deferring an associate offer for one year?

I don't think most will care in a negative way. It might create a "soft" if anything where they ask "so what did you do during that time" and you can use it as an icebreaker.

Bump. Also interested, though I am public interest oriented. I did legal work during the leave of absence.

Why the leave of absence. I bet most firms wouldn't be okay you just masturbating around for a year.
