When employers want you to attach the cover letter and resume as one pdf document, does it matter if the resume goes first or if the Cover letter goes first? Which should go first? Employers didn't indicate, which is why I'm asking.

Cover letter should be the cover....

I would suggest that the resume goes first, that's generally the first thing that someone involved in the hiring decision will look at.

Is that industry-specific protocol? We (was on hiring/interview committees in finance) would always place the resume on top for organizational purposes.

Of course it's the first thing you look at -- its only human nature. But still, that doesn't mean the Cover Letter doesn't go first on the attachment. Would you put a cover letter behind a resume in a snail mail app?
