Does Cum Laude matter for V25 corporate Counsel or Partner?

3L at a CCN with V25 ny offer. Firm has pretty detailed bios, and I noticed that the vast majority of partners and Counsel have T14 cum laude. Self selection, or is there some legitimate marketing/ prestige vortex that could have an impact on future promotion? Lateral chances? Also is this less important for corporate than litigation? Want to chill during these next couple months, but wondering what the board thinks on this..

need summa for partner at V5, magna for v10, and cum laude for v15. need summa for counsel at Fortune 5, magna for Fortune 10, and cum laude for Fortune 15.
if you don't have this credential, you might as well drop out and pursue another profession.

A better analysis to this question is whether cum laude would provide some benefit in the 99% scenario where you do not make partner, but hope to go in house, clerk, etc. It will always have some value.

I think this is most of the right answer. Having the ability and interest to grind away without rest and still produce good work is the common factor. I do wonder if at the margins having better academic credentials may continue to make you slightly more credible and marketable to clients. Seems like it would be a minor factor.

No, I'm saying someone who can work hard AND produce good work AND is willing and able to do that for years on end is both going to do well in law school and be likely to stick around and make partner. I'm not "correlating" anything, I'm saying they're two independent traits but having both of them helps you do well in school and in a law firm. Nothing controversial about that.

I disagree that grinding is necessary. There is a difference between not slacking and grinding. If you can produce results without grinding you can still succeed in most (but not all) situations. Obviously grinding will more likely produce results, but not necessary.
And you really want to say this about grades??? I don't even agree that good work always ends up getting good grades or vice versa.
As for boomers, having worked for almost twenty year, my view is that if you want to get to upper management you need to produce and be liked. Middle management usually gets promoted by seniority.
