change in the cravath scale

Have you guys heard of an impending change in the cravath scale for new associates? Someone told me today that they're going to increase starting salary by anywhere between $15K and $30K, yielding starting salaries of between $175,000 to $190,000. Is this true? If so, do you think that other big nyc firms will follow suit?

"Someone told you" as in, someone repeated the vague idea that New York will go to 190k at some point in the unknown future, or "Someone told you" as in, someone with specific inside knowledge told you that the increase is coming next year?

Don't get your hopes up, this is an unverified source. If nobody else has heard similar news, let's assume it's BS and hope the market improves substantially.

They'd have to do it across the board. Firms will have retention problems if they get cheap with more senior associates. If raises are not commensurate, some new associates will make more than some second year associates. Then they're guaranteed to get up and go to slytherin. ..I mean cravath...

What type of unverified source? Your 2L buddy from your study group, or someone that actually might have a clue?

Source is an acquaintance who claims to have read a news article about it. Like I said, unverified and if unsubstantiated, we should assume it's false. I was just wondering if anyone heard the same.
