Any current 3Ls that did their 2014 Summer Associate program? If so, did you receive an offer? Deadline to accept?

How long it took to get offer after SA completion?

hate to break it to you, but if you don't have an offer now, it's not coming. I really hope you didn't just sit there and do nothing expecting an offer..

I received my offer about 2 weeks after the end of the program, as did everyone else in my office. The hiring partner called each of us to extend the offer. Within a few days the offer letter with the benefits/bar reimbursement/moving expenses info came in the mail and we had to respond by October 1.

Im not positive but I'm pretty sure all the offices made their offer on the same day. I mean, that was supposedly the whole point behind us not getting our offers on the last day of the program from what they told us.

But the hiring partner at my office definitely called everyone, including those who didn't get an offer to tell them that they weren't getting one. I don't understand why nobody has contacted you to let you know either way.

I know of one person who was "cold-offered"

Thank you for the feedback.

Question: What is cold-offered? Do you know the time frame friend was cold-offered?

To those that completed the summer program this year, do 100% of the people accept offer? If not, what were the reservations you think?

Just curious as comparing summer programs for next year.

I feel like you're 2L considering MLB, correct? Anyways there were two people I know of at my school considering MLB and one had clerkship and is not going back next year and the other one did 3L recruiting and I heard got a V10 offer that I assume they are taking. I got the impression that they were aggressively looking for other options and I would assume that was related to MLB's financial issues but I don't know for sure.

Can someone elaborate on what financial issues, if any, the firm is having? I was under the impression is was fine. Sure it's merging with Bingham, but Bingham is the firm that is going under, not MLB. Am I missing something?

In general, firm mergers create larger issues revolving finances. Large guarantees are often paid to get partners to stay which might take slotted money for associates.

Also, no firm merges unless they don't think they are strong by themselves. Cravath never merged.

Couldn't it be that firms that partake in a merger may want to grow to become one of the largest players.

Oblig - Do you know what practice areas? Or, what practice areas most are assigned to that accepted?

Just curious.

Thanks!

Bingham would fail without this. There's no wanting to become a larger player.

To answer the point you're getting at, it would be wiser to take essentially any other offer over Bingham or ML. If you only have this one offer, hope for the best but probably don't plan around getting a post-grad offer. Too much volatility.

Which MLB office/location did you get an SA offer for?

Well, technically speaking...

He instituted the "Cravath System". The system combines a distinctive way of approaching the hiring, training and compensation of lawyers. In 1944, after a series of name changes, the name Cravath, Swaine & Moore was established and has not been altered ever since.

Fiiiiiiiiine.

Still wouldn't go near MLB if I had another offer

Do you think most 2Ls are rejecting MLB SA offers, if they have gotten one? I'm just curious if this merger is scaring other 2Ls away from MLB.

I just haven't heard of many people talking about MLB SA offers, so I'm wondering if most people are just staying away from the firm altogether right now.

I dont know about anyone else, but I rejected my MLB SA offer. I really liked the people I met at my callback, but the merger scared me away.

Oblig - Do you know which offices they turned down?

Are you at a T14, T20, or T30 law school?

Anon from above that turned down the offer. T14. Non-NY office.
