DOJ SLIP 2015

Is anyone familiar with how to proceed through the DOJ SLIP post-application process? I received "final selection for consideration" emails from all three components I listed. Does this trigger the requirement to submit the supplemental materials (resume, writing sample, and transcript)? Or do you wait until you are contacted for an interview to submit the materials? The DOJ website (
http://www.justice.gov/sites/default/fi ... ntacts.pdf) seems to indicate that you wait for the interview notification. So, I just wanted to make sure and not screw this up. Thanks!

I got a second email that said they're due by 10/13

Was the second email from a specific component? I got the final selection for consideration email from just one component (applied for two), but it mentions nothing about documents being due on 10/13. I'm assuming I shouldn't read too much into not getting that second email.

Yeah, I was selected for Office of the Chief Immigration Judge, but it looks like the email may have gone out to all EOIR components? It said the due date listed on the website had already passed and the second email was to give us a new date. I actually didn't check the website, but I'd assume your component has a due date listed there as well?

Gotcha, thanks. I was selected for Civil - Fed Programs Branch, and the
instruction page just says to submit within 4 business days.
Any idea generally how much they narrow the applicant pool by at this stage? Do we have a good chance, or still a long shot?

I get the impression that they put more energy into the Honors program than SLIP since if they don't like us they can just not give us an offer to return, so I would assume that they bring in fewer people for SLIP interviews, but that's more or less a guess. I have definitely heard that the EOIR positions are easier to get, just by dint of the sheer number of positions available.
Interested in whether the interviews tend to be more about fit, like big law, or are more substantive, if anyone has been through the process before?

Does anyone know anything about the Professional Responsibility Advisory Office? It's not listed the pre-interview submissions document.

Damn, this thread is quiet! Maybe that's a good sign for our chances. The materials for my component are due on Monday, definitely hoping things move quickly after that.
Anybody have a sense of which components interview and which don't?

Any interview/offer movement? No word from Civil - Fed Programs since sending in my materials a week and a half ago.

Interviewed with anti-trust division and BOP. Received final consideration emails from 7 other departments. They are applying veterans preference this year and it makes a heck of a difference.

Congrats! Though not what I wanted to hear, personally. Do you mind sharing whether any of the 7 other departments were within Civil? Just trying to gauge whether I'm out of the running and haven't been told no yet, or if maybe my component hasn't decided yet. Thanks!

Interviewed with Tax and they said they were instructed to have their interviews done by the end of the month in order to make selections in November. My references said that Civil called them but no interview yet.

I was selected for consideration by Civil Division for several branches- Fed Programs being one of them. I haven't heard anything from them or any other Civil Division branch that selected me after submitting the supplementary documentation. So who knows what they are doing.
However, I was also selected by the Antitrust Division, interviewed and just offered a position. They were my first choice so I'm stoked but would like to hear back from Civ, to see if I can split.
Has anyone heard back from any branch of Civ?

Did they interview you or were you just called with the offer?

They just called with the offer (no interview). Have four weeks to accept, but still waiting for results of my Tax interview.

Multiple calls and offers are starting to flow in. I've already made my choice, but it appears that most of the divisions are moving into the final stages for their first picks.

Congrats on making your choice! Do you know which components have started to make offers?

I was offered a position on both Antitrust and Commercial Litigation several weeks ago. I just decided on Antitrust.
Tried to split but doesn't seem like it was really looked favorably upon, although they didn't say I couldn't. Nevertheless, I'm really happy with my decision. Hopefully, an alternate will get a call from Comm. Lit soon! They were actually great, really liked speaking to the Attorney who called me and I'm sure I would have been happy there too!
Good Luck to everyone!

So . . . these people who claimed to get offers weeks ago from Antitrust and Comm. Lit . . . how is that possible, since the finalists were just announced today? Were you lying? If so, not cool.

Perhaps they contacted veteran preference applicants then finalists? After all, if done properly this is how it should have been done.
On that note though, I had 10 point vet preference and got an interview but no offer from either of these two. I did withdraw after accepting another offer within DOJ so maybe I just. missed them.

One of the Commercial Lit offers here. I'm not a vet, but I did decline the offer last week. So, perhaps they are in a second round of offers.
