When to follow up/who to follow up with... HALP

Had a callback for an entry level biglaw staff attorney position almost 2 1/2 weeks ago. Basically, it's a position in a specific practice group, and the position would require working under 1 specific partner. The position was created to give this partner support in one insanely niche part of his practice without having to hire an actual associate.

When should I follow up, if at all?

Should I follow up with the recruiter or the partner? I met with the partner twice (screener and callback) and we seemed to get along well, if that matters at all for this particular issue.

Lack of ties was a potential issue, although this is a major market. Should I reference this in the follow up, as in, I remain very interested in the position and in moving to X market blah blah blah?

There's no hard and fast rule about when to follow up, especially not with niche positions. Personally I would follow up after around 2 weeks of radio silence, maybe 3-4 if it's a slow regional market.
