I would call recruiter if you have questions and e-mail partner. But there's no hard fast rule.

I just did what the offer letter said.

I called the hiring partner I've been in touch with the whole time and sent recruiting a courtesy email after the call. I'm sure either is fine, but I thought it might be good to start building relationships with the attorneys sooner rather than later.

This. I called hiring partner. Thanked him for the opportunity, said I was excited etc.
