I enjoy the nonchalant attitude about the tax bomb 20 years down the road when he'll suddenly owe $100k+ extra in taxes.TheSpanishMain wrote:The debt itself, I guess. It's just so much money. he'll owe like $900k in non-dischargeable debt at that point so i'm not sure how that's a bad thingFlips88 wrote:I enjoy the nonchalant attitude about the tax bomb 20 years down the road when he'll suddenly owe $100k+ extra in taxes.TheSpanishMain wrote:The debt itself, I guess. Oh, you so just pwned me... Nice catch, ANON bro, you really are bravely standing up for the downtrodden.Anonymous User wrote:Elitism like this makes TLS and law school so nauseating. 1. Paragraphs. Employ them. This shouldn't be a new concept to you. I guess this is the sort of writers that TTTs produce?
Edit: ironically, the sentence should read "this is the sort of writer" or "these are the sorts of writers."
To address your substantive point, do you practice law? If you do, you know that it is not just TLS/law school that is "elitist," it's the ENTIRE PROFESSION. This is why you need to go to a top school if you want a job, you dolt.
This is also the very reason why TLS tells people who are attending a shitty school thinking "YAY, I CAN GET BIGLAW TOO" (thread title) to wake the fuck up. TTT's aren't a terrible decision because they provide you with a "shitty education," they are a terrible decision because this elitist profession won't take you seriously if that's the name at the top of your resume (read: "straight into the shredder").
Also, come on, you can't seriously be defending this guy's shitty posting style. He posts blocks of text like 20+ sentences long. They're a nightmare to read.

Re: I got Biglaw from T2 AND YOU CAN TOO
I'm conflicted about this thread.
I got multiple V10 SA offers from a TTTT. I don't think it was luck for me at all.
That being said, I wouldn't suggest the path I took to basically anyone else.
There will probably be between 5 and 10 people with V100 SA offers from my class out of a few hundred people and change. Most people outside single digit ranking can't even get a screener at this stage and OCI has been over for weeks. Even those within the top 10 (not 10%, top 10 spots individually) have struck out on anywhere from 1-5 CBs.
It is hard for me to say it because I love my school and I got a great outcome but in the end I have to side with the posters in this thread who are saying T14 or don't go/retake/whatever. They have math on their side. People like me may not have "gotten lucky" individually, but we certainly beat out significant odds.

Brooklyn Law student here going to biglaw this summer in a v50 firm.

White male (not diverse)
TLS is great for motivation, because you really do need to aim to be the best at everything you do as a law student whether it be the LSAT, the school you attend, or your rank. But in the end, there's more to getting a job than numbers on paper. I was invited for 30 screening interviews, and five callback interviews. I probably would have gotten more callbacks if I didn't suck at interviewing so much. A Brooklyn Law student possessing my rank would receive the same number of screening interviews, and probably more callbacks if he/she has better interviewing skills than me (which is not a hard bar to pass). Even though I suck at interviewing and I was not top 10%, I'm going to work in biglaw next summer, at a firm with a 28/30 offer rate.

The parading of the TTT summer associate in this thread is baffling to me. I'm excited for all the graduates who are finding employment (if working at a large firm in new york is what you actually wanted to do), but this is sending totally the wrong message. What is the purpose of this thread.

5 CBs for someone in your position actually sounds really high, I can't imagine another person doing much better than that. Congrats on the offer

So in other words, it's not about numbers, but pretty much anyone at Brooklyn with your numbers would have done at least as well as you, indicating that it is about numbers? Do I have this right?BrooklynLaw16 wrote:Brooklyn Law student here going to biglaw this summer in a v50 firm.

I can't believe anyone still has to say this on page 10 of this thread but here goes: NO ONE is surprised that someone in the top 15% at BLS managed to get biglaw. The problem is that going in you don't have any idea whether you'll finish that high in the class.

I AM SEEKING VALIDATION FROM TLS THAT I AM INDEED A SPECIAL SNOWFLAKE
unclear why "and you can too" is there. perhaps OP included as a signal to other SPECIAL SNOWFLAKES to assemble ITT

Granted offers are unlikely from lower ranked students but I know someone ranked between 20%-25% at BLS who received two offers from v60 firms. Granted she has impressive work experience but the point I'm trying to convey is that some TT schools are not as hopeless as others. Hopefully my anecdotes can help 0Ls in the 159-164 range who are intent on choosing a TT school rather than re-testing.
Also going to school for free is nice. They pay for my books and everything. Don't hear much of that from the T14 crowd

That is pretty cool they pay for your books. It's like when the casino gives you a free suite if you win a lot at craps.
