PE Exit Options

Choosing between multiple SA offers. One of my top choices is big in PE work, which is what I would do if I went there.
Wondering what kind of exit options people who work in PE practice groups or mainly on PE have? Will this focus/specialization benefit or harm me? Will my exit options be broader if I go to a different firm and do more general corporate transactional work?

been working at one of the big PE firms for 2 years. have yet to see someone depart to a PE shop. not exactly sure why actually. partly may be self-selection, as if you ask people here no one really wants to exit to them seeing as their legal depts are known to work you to the bone. one thing ill say about working at a PE shop is that your clients can be pretty unreasonable, more so than if they were just a regular public company. when your client does deals for a living, it can be tough as they email you whenever. ive repp'ed regular companies before and its way better, they are totally clueless, always follow what you tell them, never have comments on anything, and never email you after working hours. there is no point in exiting in a PE shop because its just more of the same. might as well stay in biglaw. dont be mystified by the "prestige." you will be back office there. most lawyers dont want to work there
