Title says it all. Will graduate with about 200k in debt and would eventually like to move back to the West Coast (in-house or firm) as soon as possible (couple years?). I am also leaning towards corporate work. Which would you recommend?

Cadwalader
V34
White shoe firm
Better national reputation
Better chance of lateraling
People seemed overworked and unhappy

Hughes Hubbard
V79
Same pay
Friendly people
Less stressful environment
Corporate group is small, but see a large variety of work

What do you want to do? Lit? Transactional? I actually really liked Cadwalader NY. Once concern for you is that some of Cadwalader's work-securitization, derivatives and financial services regulation-seems very NY centric. Although, NY has a fairly strong IP group, which is big in CA. Something to think about.

I worked for HHR in a non-lawyer role. Can confirm that people are generally friendly, if perhaps a bit neurotic. The firm is mostly known for their lit work and their representation of the Lehman Bros / MFG trustee. Their corp group is small and I couldn't in good faith recommend it over Cadwalader's, QOL notwithstanding.

You clearly want Hughes Hubbard based on your post. Do them and be happy and never look back.
