thread title says it all. am considering a job offer in fund formation. was wondering what day to day work is like. is it high stress and long hours like M&A? and is it career suicide as far as exits are concerned?

A partner at a firm with a prominent fund formation practice group said it best to me: "Fund formation is 45 days of awesome exciting work and a following 4 years of slogging through the crap that you created."

He was very careful to distinguish other PE work from fund formation specifically. He seems to enjoy other PE work but was not very stoked on the idea of fund formation. With that he said, he did mention that there were other partners who really enjoyed the fund formation side of things.
