Good Pre-Callback Meals

Hi everyone,

So this question is definitely uncommon, but I tend to get fatigued toward the end of my callback. Does anyone have some good ideas for meals or foods to eat pre-callback to stay high in energy through the very end?

Thanks, guys!

I guess I'll be going with a burger and fries, haha.

When i've had CBs that started with a lunch I've tried to eat light and get coffee at the end. So things like fish, not things like a burger and fries that tend to make you lethargic after a couple hours.

If the callback didn't include a meal, my go-to pre-CB was a grilled chicken sandwich from a fast food place without the mayo and a Starbucks double shot. Kept me awake every time and no stomach problems.

I would drink a red bull and eat a yogurt if I had one

How about just some eggs (maybe an omelet), toast, and a cup of coffee if it's in the morning? Straightforward, fairly bland, some caffeine (but not too much so you don't get jittery or whatever)

Is this a troll? Just eat what you normally do before work or class. It's not like 2.5 hours of interviews is strenuous. You aren't prepping for a iron man race. Just eat something and drink coffee

Well they aren't strenuous but definitely taxing energy wise. At least the first few I did before I got used to them left me completely wiped. But no more so than other high pressure situations you've necessary endured by virtue of being a law student (e.g., exams). That's what makes this question trollish.

Eat what you eat before exams, moot court, and other demanding situations. CBs are not special in that regard.

I usually eat food high in protein, e.g., crab and egg, with some espresso

Small warning - people forget caffeine can make you jittery / nervous. I learned early on that the stress of the whole process was more than enough to keep me alert. If you caffeinate, you might present as a nervous / hyper weirdo. Don't overdo it thinking "this will give me personality." It won't.

I drank a five hour energy before every callback and did fine. I guess it's a personal preference. I always tend to err on the side of too much energy/enthusiasm but I think that's much better than the alternative

Eggs and oatmeal with fruit and black coffee, no gluten or dairy.

The fact that you didn't post this anonymously shows just how much of a coward you really are

I thought maybe the OP was a flame but A. It's in the employment forum so hopefully not and B. I've met law students before so I can't rule out this being a serious question coming from one of them.

Protein, sugar, caffeine seems like a solid combo

Cliff Bars. Really anything with some protein, fat, vitamins, and sugar. I would also try not to drink that much liquid if you have a fast metabolism. Going two hours without urinating is nearly impossible for me, and more than one trip to the restroom gets weird.

honestly, the idea behind this post is a good one because staying positive/high energy makes a big difference, and can be harder for some people (especially introverts)

i would avoid carbs and heavy food, and stick with coffee and high protein food (Ex. salad with feta cheese and grilled chicken/salmon)

the worst thing--and like an idiot i've done this--is doing a CB either hungry or hungover

Following up. Didn't do this yesterday and it went terribly.

My best CB was fueled by Hardee's. I recommend the Six Dollar Burger for maximum energy/charisma.
