Firm in market area I want to live that is reasonably well regarded & doesn't literally beat associates = dream firm
Alternatively, sports law

My dream firm is the one where I can work without pants for no hours a day, get market rate, and TLS all day.flawschoolkid wrote:Firm in market area I want to live that is reasonably well regarded & doesn't literally beat associates = dream firm

#1 bid at oci + very strong in desired practice groups + I really liked everyone I met on the callback = my dream firm. I know most firms are fungible but I couldn't be happier than I am with that result

Interesting. Still think the dream firm is one where you get paid and don't have to work.

They mean the most prestigious firm they think they have a shot at.

Assuming you're a student still, how can you be sure it's your "dream firm" when you have no idea what it's like to actually practice there as an associate?Pikappraider wrote:#1 bid at oci + very strong in desired practice groups + I really liked everyone I met on the callback = my dream firm. Re: What do people mean by dream firm?
I don't. But it was far and away my number one choice based on the limited research/experiences I had. With the info at my disposal, it was my dream firm. Hoping it doesn't change when I hopefully start there full time (I know sa is not representative at all), although it probably will.Anonymous User wrote:Assuming you're a student still, how can you be sure it's your "dream firm" when you have no idea what it's like to actually practice there as an associate?Pikappraider wrote:#1 bid at oci + very strong in desired practice groups + I really liked everyone I met on the callback = my dream firm. it sounds as dumb as a convicted felon coming up with their "dream prison" or someone naming their "dream assaulter"

Have you worked there as a full time associate where you have little time to enjoy the money you make?Pikappraider wrote:I guess my friend group and I are in the minorityFirst Offense wrote:Eh... probably kinda true. Seriously, would anyone who wants to do corporate in NYC not choose Watchell/Cravath/Schulte? Would anyone doing lit in DC not choose W&C if they had the option? DF nailed it.

Falling in love with some rando firm because of their promotional materials is probably even dumber than just straight prestige whoring.Pikappraider wrote:I guess my friend group and I are in the minorityFirst Offense wrote:Eh... probably kinda true.
