a partner from one of my early callbacks called me today to let me know they're almost done interviewing candidates and will have a decision for me next week. has this happened to anyone else? should i read anything into it? it's one of my top choice firms, so i'm really hoping for some good news.

You're probably a backup and they're calling fishing to see if you're leaning towards accepting an offer elsewhere or already have.
