I recently accepted an SA offer in NYC at an Am Law 150 firm. I am eager to secure employment at a more prestigious firm after graduation during on campus interviews next year. Does anyone know whether Quinn Emanuel NYC hires 3L's outside of the SA program?

Quinn associate here; the NYC office has considered (and made offers to) 3Ls with "offers in hand" from their summer firms the past several years, so you do have a shot (not a great one though, they take ~20 SAs compared to 1-2 3Ls).

Thanks. What is Quinn looking for in those 1-2 3L's?

(Associate from above)

So far as I can tell, they're looking for the same qualifications as the first time around (top grades, law review/moot court, interest in lit, etc) plus some reason "Why Quinn?" when you have an offer from elsewhere.

So, to give an example, one successful candidate was an SA at a highly regarded firm that is better known for Corp, then applied to Quinn explaining "I thought I wanted Corp, but during my SA rotation with lit, I realized I really wanted lit..."

You don't necessarily have to be at a nationally regarded firm either, if you were at a boutique, or maybe a regional firm with a strong specialty, that also seems to work.
