coolest swag people have gotten

Post by Anonymous User » Sun Sep 07, 2014 1:35 am

note: this is a lighthearted topic. and just made out of curiosity.

my friends and i were discussing some of the random things we've gotten from firms either at OCI or after getting offers, and were wondering what other people might've gotten. no need to post firm if you don't want to.

to start:
(1) handy stickynote pad from wilmerhale
(2) fresh cookies airmailed from new york
(3) magic 8 ball
(4) brownies

1. Crowell Moring was giving out rubber duckies, which was cute i guess
2. Sidley Austin had high quality umbrellas and portable cell phone chargers (those rechargeable battery pack things)
3. Debevoise gave out a USB drive in the form of a card. The USB part like flipped out, it's hard to explain
4. Wacthell gave out cash. Jk they gave out better flash drives
5. Sullivan Cromwell gave out feelings of inadequacy.

If you visit 125 Broad Street, they also give out very nice umbrellas. I would rank their umbrellas above Sidley & Austin's.

The best swag, though, is anything with 'Fried Frank' written on it. Sure, it's pronounced 'freed,' but either way it's funny.

Sidley and Cravath both have branded external battery packs from the same vendor. Paul Hastings has a different one too which I find works better.

Goodwin Proctor gave out branded tide to go pens -- that was most useful.

Baker Botts had both those same external battery packs and the branded tide to go pens. They definitely won the swag championship for me.

-- fancy cookies from weil
-- external battery pack from akin (sucks and doesn't work well)
-- rubber ducks from crowell (definitely the most useless "swag" of them all)
-- bottle of red wine from a v10 after offer (i didn't get this, but someone I know did...guess they're back to pre-recession gifts lol)

Hunton & Williams gave out hand sanitizer spray. When I picked it up in the suite, I thought it was one of those breath freshener sprays, so I put it up to my mouth, sprayed twice, and left. No callback.

Kasowitz was giving out these iphone or ipad amplifiers--basically a speaker that doesn't drain hella power. Shit goes hard.

I guess I just didn't do well with firm swag at OCI - I don't have any umbrellas, which is all people talk about here. I did pick up a PH phone charger, but after they post-screener dinged me I have mixed feelings about it

the point was more that you don't need to talk about your callback/offer brownies or cookies (or both)

Pretty sure no one gets food sent to their house unless it's an offer.

I used one of the portable phone chargers I was given and my phone's battery percentage has been displayed as 45% ever since.

Skadden universal charger adapter for sure. In tandem with Sidley charger, life is great.

SF/SV firms had the best tech-swag (universal chargers, iPhone cases, battery packs that are compatible with mac laptops)
Stites had extra large coffee mugs
Foley had $5 dollar gift cards
A partner at a CB I had gave me a poker chip with the firm's name on it, which was awesome

i thought this would be nice... Until I realized I only have 1 phone and it is stupid carrying around this cord octopus when I only need my phone's cord. Also, the Skadden thing was too short to be useful.
My gf has an iphone and I have an Android so it works great for us. Plus if you have an iphone you can use the Skadden cord's micro-USB to plug the charger into the wall to charge while simultaneously using the iphone cord to charge your phone.
