Private practice to gov't position

I have been working at a small firm since I graduated LS last year. I just got an "are you still interested" letter in a gov't position I applied for and I am absolutely interested.

Forgive my ignorance, but do I just need to write a new cover letter and enclose my updated resume? On the cover letter, should I leave out any of my experience from LS and just stick with my experience from my first year as an associate? One of my positions in law school gave me more experience for this job whereas my work in private practice does not translate as well.

Thanks.

One bump for some advice.

Also, does anyone have a good associate attorney resume example? Thanks in advance.
