CB, so-so grades (below cutoff), chances of offer?

Hello everyone,

My first CB is coming up in about a week and my grades are median from a T30. I was wondering if at this point an offer is truly realistic b/c from my research the firm's cutoff is around top 1/3. Or am I just overthinking it and have made it past the grading criteria?

Thanks!

"Made it past" is a stretch but you're still overthinking it. If you shine in the CB you're fine. If you are "meh" along with 20 other people for 5 positions, they'll have an easier time cutting by grade.

Generally at a CB the people interviewing you and giving the recommendations don't even see your transcript. For all they know you have a perfect GPA. If it comes up at all, it'll be at the offer-or-not stage (hiring committee, presumably)...And they'll only be looking at the grades when there's a big clump of people on the border of offer-or-not. Don't let your grades get in your head.

If you received a cb, then your chances are just as good as the next person. interviewers will see whatever you submitted at oci.

You don't control how the firm will evaluate you. You can't change your grades. Knowing that you have or haven't cleared a hurdle shouldn't change how you interview. Focus on the things you can control. Good luck.
