I have an interview with them coming up and I have been told that they are a player in the EC/VC space in NYC? Can anyone talk to the firm's reputation in NYC (I know in NJ they are considered one of the best). Not a lot of information on Vault or Chambers.

i think this is the normal satellite office situation. Yes, opportunity to be part of a growing office. Flipside is lack of mentorship, lack of access to partners in HQ office.

I used them at a startup I worked at. They were sloppy, misrepresented things to us, and were generally so unprofessional that we had to fire them and move to another firm. They are very nice people and are very well connected to the VC scene in NY, but if you want to do startup law and have any other standard startup law option (Cooley, Gunderson, etc.), take the other option. Lowenstein is good but I don't think they're great and I don't think they have nearly the reputation that the other firms in the space have.

Also, I think the NY office is neglected a bit. If I remember correctly, we (a company in NY) worked almost exclusively with the NJ office. We may not have ever even interacted with a NY attorney from them.
