I had a CB with a firm around 3 weeks ago and haven't heard from them since. Is there still hope at this point?

i have never heard of this outside of secondary markets where the offer was "sloppy seconds" ie the firm had been turned down by their first choice candidate and was only taking a VERY small SA class.

Can anyone else weigh in on this? If you haven't heard back after 3 weeks, is it more likely because the firm has 'waitlisted' you or because they are procrastinating in sending you a rejection letter? DC market btw.

I think it was two and a half weeks. NYC firm. If you haven't heard I doubt it can hurt to follow up and reaffirm your interest - I did and received the good news shortly thereafter.

Who should I contact to express my continuing interest? I interviewed with 7 partners at the firm, one of whom was my screener interviewer.

Some firms like to have all their CBs before they begin handing out offers. This means that if you are one of their first CBs, you might be in for a wait.

Original anon here. For a HQ office that would probably be the right thing to do. In my case this is a satellite office in a very difficult to break into market. I never interacted in any way with anyone in the main office (where the recruiting coordinator would be). AFAIK this office is very independent. They haven't hired any summer associates for like 4-5 years and only this year decided they wanted to start growing the office (but their main office hires 40-50 a year).

I guess this is just something to figure out on my own but I don't want to pull off some faux pas that makes me look stupid.

this "shouldn't" happen in NY. someone posted 8 weeks.. not sure what that even means, unless you did a pre-OCI mail application in June and they waited until after conducting their OCI CB's. my longest wait was 9 days in a secondary market.

GDC's D.C. office gave me an offer three weeks after my CB last year. I was almost certainly on a waitlist of some sort.

Yes I did.

Edit: It was a couple years back. Looking back it was a bit crazy. Had I not had another offer it would have been unbearable. Generally though I would say after a month post cb it's pretty much over.

Those of you who got late offers, how did you go about communicating the limbo situation to your then-pending offers? How did you ask for extensions?

What seemed common last year was receiving offers from callbacks that occurred two/three months earlier. Problem was the offers were declined because the candidate had already accepted somewhere else. Pisser was that some of these firms offered a bigger paycheck. I guess there is a basis why some firms delay offers but given the competitive nature of our biz, I do not understand it.
