I wouldn't call it a letter of interest. I would just send a follow up email / call them (probably better) and just say you are following up on your application etc.

OP here: Ok, I called attorney recruiting last week and my application is under consideration... I was researching the firm today via its website and came across the hiring committee co-chair. Was wondering if I should send him email (call?) to express my interest in the law clerk position... Or just wait until I either get dinged or CB request.
TYIA.

Seems overeager to call again IMO. I wouldn't do it.

Ehh, not really. If I were overeager, I would have called already. I am, however, very interested in the job b/c it's the type of law I want to practice (so I guess you can say I am eager to work there) I called recruiting last week to find out the status and I'm under consideration or whatever that means...I'm mulling over whether or not it's worthwhile to call/email the partner in charge of hiring to express my interest in the position directly. I am still not quite sure I want to call/email... Just wanted someone to bounce the ideas off of TLS cuz I don't wanna fuck up. Make sense? It's entirely possible that I hear back this week; however, if I don't I want to be prepared in case it's a net benefit for me to call the dude.
Fwiw: my resume matches w/ what this firm does except I'm worried they will take one look at my transcript and think I'm not worth interviewing or something cuz I'm below the grade cut-off... Which is probably why I want to express my interest (compensate for gpa)...
Anyways, vale sux... Figured the job experience will make resume look better for my applications for full-time work after school.

My CSO suggested I follow up with firms once if there had been radio silence for a while, anything more than that is over eager and annoying. She said she has had other students who have done multiple follow ups and, direct quote, "But you seem more socially well-adjusted than that so I don't need to tell you to not do that."
But that was according to CSO and YMMV and all that.
