Re: Asset Recovery Division of an USAO
It's not a very exciting position.JusticeJackson wrote:Anyone know what AUSAs do in these divisions? I see a lot of these openings lately. See, e.g. http://www.justice.gov/legal-careers/jo ... y-division
There's obviously the description in the posting, but I'm seeing if anyone has anything to add.
Most, if not all, asset forfeiture AUSAs never actually try a case (although there are rare instances). The majority of their work is, for lack of a better phrase, pushing paper and being anal about deadlines (i.e., publication).
Some folks really enjoy it, and some old-timer AUSAs like the position as it's sort of pseudo-retirement.
Again, it's not a bad position, but just not a position most law students, much less lawyers, think of when they think "AUSA".
