Was most impressed by the people at these two firms. Leaning DPW based on warmer reputation but see tremendous upside in CSM's rotation system (as well as downside). Wondering if anybody knows how screwed someone is if he/she loses the rotation roulette, as well as whether the hours are actually higher at Cravath (particularly in lit). I am operating under the assumption that exit options/ prestige differences are largely fungible.

I work at DPW, but in corporate, and came very close to choosing Cravath. Both are great, and both are very similar if you're just generally interested in a big firm (and realize that both will be very intense).

Go with your gut. It's fair game to talk to the people at the firms about this choice, they're very used to it, and I'm sure will have useful opinions about the competition.

I think this depends on fit and feel. The two firms are effectively equals in most aspects.

don't have a dog in this fight because I summered with a very different kind of firm, but I've had the opportunity to work with people from cravath and people from davis polk—

the people from cravath @ my firm tended to be partners who moved to make partner/make more money

the people from davis polk tended to be associates who disliked it there and wanted to leave early

make of that what you will
