[realtalk: I'm guessing this is because living on 85K/year actually could be a stretch for somebody at an investment bank. A bonus doesn't help pay 2K+ monthly rent that a lot of people will be facing, etc. I'd be surprised if law firms increased base salary before increasing bonuses, and I wouldn't be surprised if neither increased any time soon. And at the same time, I doubt it would be a jump to 190; 170 seems a lot more plausible]
