Scheduling CBs

Post by Anonymous User » Sat Aug 16, 2014 7:53 pm

When you schedule a CB, would it be wise to go to lunch or do an interview where you don't have to do it? It seems like it has its benefits (more info/exposure and great lunch), but also has downsides (you could show you're really an asshole). Wondering if anyone has had success one way or another?

Well are you an asshole?

I had a cb with the option and chose to do lunch. I was glad I did. It was with young associates and really laid back. Talked mostly like normal people, which was nice after 2 hours of interviews.

Also, if you are likely or possibly will have mulitple offers, I think the additional exposure is helpful.

Uhhh, if people generally think you're an asshole, then yeah, increased susceptibility of being "discovered" is a no, so you wouldn't want to do lunch. However, I think you should go to lunch because how awkward would it be to say no? - I know if I ever ask someone out to lunch (whom I'm not close with) and they tell me no, I might not say anything, but I'm definitely wondering what their reasons are and I find myself thinking they are not as interested in me as I thought.

Moral - go to lunch, even if you're an asshole. If an asshole, try not to be one.

Better yet, don't even go to the callback, let a non-asshole have it.

Previous anon but not OP.

The way mine worked, is through their website, you signed up for a time, and 3 of the 6 or 7 available timeslots included a meal, so that isn't an issue really.
