When interviewing, when you introduce yourself do you use your first and last name or just your first? Thanks

this is how i do it

"Hello good sir, my name is Meph Ist Opheles, Esquire (expected)."

but firm handshakes reek of labor, and cmon, this is a prestigious profession

I've actually been wondering the opposite of this -- when you email an attorney or meet them for the first time, and they say "Please call me [first name]" after you say "Hello Mr./Ms. Last Name," should you still call them by their last name out of respect, or will this just annoy them?

If they ask you to call them by their first name why on earth would you call them anything else?

I haven't called anyone by their last name at any point in my job search. Recruiter, Associate, or Partner, we're all adults here and this isn't exactly one of those professions where people call the boss Ms/Mr whatever.

If they introduce them selves as John Smith, then I will introduce myself with first/last name.

As an above poster said, if the interviewer says "first, last" or just "first" then match that.

But take a step back and realize that your not going to get hired or dinged for telling someone your last name.

this. The only way to screw this up is by letting the little things like this distract you and make you anxious.

The "Gentleman's Shake" is to tickle the other person's palm with your middle finger as you're reaching in for the handshake.

If someone has the balls to do the dead fish handshake, I'd love to hear the reaction.
