Many interviewers will google you. Is there something embarrassing on you?

A prominent newspaper article from college that paints me in a negative light, and pictures of 16-year old MySpace-me that won't go away.

Most law firms and big companies will contract a 3rd party to do background checks. Not much you can really do to cover anything up now though unless you want to seriously crowd your search results with professional assistance. I wouldn't worry too much.

Yes. I worked at a firm before law school that still had my name on the website by the time OCI rolled around. SEO people at firm noticed hits on their website through Google searches under by name in the month of Aug.

I imagine that at most firms, a third-party does it as part of the background check, but won't raise anything to the firm's attention unless it's extremely concerning. Associates frequently do it, sometimes out of boredom or general curiosity, sometimes because of a particularly noteworthy resume item (e.g. if an applicant played football at an SEC school). I don't think most partners care to do it, and I wouldn't raise anything I saw to a decision-maker unless it was troubling (e.g. criminal activity, overt racism).
