How do I quit my RA Position

Hello guys,

Me along with 3 other students been working with a prof. over the summer, and he had mentioned that he usually desires his RAs to stand on for throughout the year. I haven't done much over the summer up until now, but things are about to pick up. However, the work I am doing for him is not what I had anticipated, and frankly I won't have much time for the job, due to a better paying part time job, and journal obligations along with class work once school starts.

How do I tell the prof. I am not going to be staying on. Should I just say I don't have time, or should I also mention that my financial situation would be better served with this higher paying job. I know I'm going to burn a bridge, I just would appreciate any advice thanks.

Depends on the guy. Probably tell him you don't like the work honestly.

RAs are pretty replaceable. When I left my RA position, I happened to already know a qualified 1L interested in taking over, and suggested her to the prof. Maybe you could do something similar just to save a hassle and do two people a favor?
