If firms at OCI ask for references (which I know is rare), is it ok to have 1 law prof and 2 attorneys from your 1L summer internship?

K-JD 2L here. I could get references from past internships during undergrad, but I figured legal references should always take precedence. The 2 attorneys from my 1L summer internship work in separate groups and each can talk about different types of matters I helped them on, so I went with them. Is it a mistake to have 2 from the same place, though?

From my understanding, it is more typical to provide two academic references (law professors, not undergrad), and one professional reference (ideally 1L supervisor). Hope this helps.

I think your references would be fine. The only situations I know where having 2 profs is advisable is LS apps and clerkship applications (judges often want assessments of your academic ability).

I am using the associate supervisor, a partner I worked closely with and a professor whose class I did well in and participated a lot in. I think 2 professional and 1 professor is much better for firms
