3L OCI

Thought it might be about time to start an official 3L OCI forum. I know 3L OCI is a joke, but there are some firms that are recruiting entry level assosciates- Williams & Connolly, Cravath, Latham. Does anyone else know of any other firms that are recruiting, how the time line will differ for 3L's in terms of delay between interviews and responses or whether most places will move in the fall instead of August at OCI?

Is Latham actually interviewing? They did a resume collect at Texas.

Anyone know the timeline on mass mailing for 3Ls? How fast do firms move? I've heard mixed things. Some say it moves even faster than 2L interviews (5 day turnaround max); others have said its delayed (firms reach out late august/september after 2L stuff settles down and SA offers are all in). Anyone have any experience so far or heard anything about previous years?

Kirkland did the 3L resume collect. Latham is actually interviewing 3Ls during OCI (London office was resume collect only though).

My bad. Obviously I didn't get a 3Latham interview.

Don't know if they're actually hiring, but there were at least as many IP firms interviewing in 3L OCI at UT as there were non-IP firms.

Is Skadden recruiting Litigation or just corporate?

I believe they are recruiting both. They want a cover letter indicating the practice areas you are interested in.

Do any of the firms contact your 2L employer? I really liked everyone there and don't want to burn any bridges in case shopping around doesn't work out…

I heard Sidley NYC is recruiting corporate 3Ls in the spring.

Are you all only doing interviews via OCI? Or did you also mass mail? I missed the deadline for my schools bidding period, but have decided I want to see what else is out there.

Both. There really aren't ever going to be enough 3L OCI employers to rely on that unless you have a killer profile and will take anything other than your existing offer. For my preferred market there are only two offices coming to our OCI so I have been mass mailing everywhere else.

Anybody have any success yet?
I have a couple callbacks (off previous screeners) and a couple screeners coming up. All from direct mailing.
I will say that the timeline can get annoying. They'll ping me for a callback and but it will often take 1-2 weeks after the interview to hear back and then days between phone calls and emails trying to schedule things. I assume it's just because they're slammed with 2L recruiting.

For the mass mailings, did you use email or old fashioned mail?

Rough stats? 2L SA? I'm just curious because I haven't even gotten as much as a response/screener so far (T10, top 30%, 2L SA w/ offer)

Hey anon from above--I'm roughly similar stats. 2L SA w/ offer (but some of the interviews came before offer but it's a historically 100% offer firm), T10, probably more like top 20-25%.

Can people post what firms if they feel comfortable doing so? I didn't realize people started mass mailing so early. Most people I know are waiting until their offer comes in from 2L SA firms. Are the NYC firms that the above anon got callbacks at V5? V10? Any info would be helpful!

Anon from above--one V5, two V10s (in NYC). V10/15ish in CA but that doesn't really matter much there necessarily.
ETA: that count includes both callbacks and screeners.
