Follow-Up After Callback

Hi

So I heard about a position working in-house through a connection and had a screening interview with one of the attorneys in the department. It went well and I was asked to come in for a callback with all the attorneys in the department. I think this also went really well based on the feedback I received from the attorneys.

The thing is, I was told about a month ago that they would not be hiring for the position possibly until September. I responded thanking the attorney for all their help and to reiterate my interest in the position.

Would it be annoying to reach out again just to touch base? I know that they are probably not going to hire for the position for another month or so. I want to show interest and stay on their radar, but I don't want to be a pest.

Any feedback is appreciated :D

EDIT: initially thought this was about biglaw. Oops! See two posts down for clarification.

Yes, this would be annoying. Biglaw recruiters are not stupid and they don't simply forget about potential candidates, especially those that have gone through a callback interview. You'll hear when you hear. Don't contact them until (1) you get an offer from another firm or (2) it's the end of the first week of September.

Did you pick up that he wasn't talking about Biglaw at all? He was asking a question about in-house.

I highlighted the relevant portion for you, It's buried in there so I don't knock you for missing it. I'm sure OP appreciates the help though.

Lol! Reading comprehension fail. Thanks for pointing that out. I autoassume everything here is biglaw related. Oops.

I would say, though, that my advice holds for in-house as well. I would still wait until September or until you are considering another offer elsewhere. In-house folks actually tend to be really busy and pinging them now when they've said they're not hiring until September would be an annoyance to them.
