Spending entire day at BigLaw

Earlier this year, I reached out to a partner at a BigLaw firm (friend of another attorney I know) and we met for coffee. He saw my resume at that time and seemed to like it. He told me to contact him during this summer to discuss their 2L program. This morning I contacted him to set up a meeting and to make a long story short, he invited me to spend an entire day at their office. They are coming to my school for OCI but bidding hasn't started, and he didn't ask me for an updated resume.

Has anyone else gone through something like this? What should I expect? I'm sure there will be lunch with 1 or more attorneys....but what else... ?

You've been invited to the callback phase. You'll have lunch with a few associates and/or a partner, and you'll have several interviews -- probably an exhausting number of them. Probably two in the morning and three or four in the afternoon if it's a day-long callback. Multiple partners and associates will be talking to you, likely from different practice groups unless you were very clear with the partner about what practice area you're looking for.

+1. Congrats OP, you got an earned CB. Be prepared and dressed to interview. Good luck!

My friend had a CB interview lined up at a biglaw office. Her school found out about it and their OCI includes a no-pre-OCI-contact policy, though, and the firm had to cancel the interview. Just something to keep in mind.

OP here: Oh wow...ok...so this is basically my interview. Exciting and terrifying at the same time! I will dress like I'm going to interview and take several copies of my resume/transcript/writing sample. I knew CB's consisted of multiple interviews but didn't realize it was literally an all day event. I have gone through most of the threads here but if anyone has any tips on do's or don't, please share. :D

Yikes! I have not heard anything about a policy like this in my school. In fact, we are always being encouraged to reach out to firms and network. I simply reached out to him for a coffee meet. That being said, I don't plan on sharing this information with ANYONE who attends or is employed by my school.

The firm is paying the school to be at OCI. Why would they have to cancel the interview of someone they want to interview? My school had that same bullshit "no outside contact" thing, except they tried to pass it off as a NALP requirement.

It depends on the firm. Typically they tend to be half day events (you chose either morning or afternoon).
