I'm May grad who is going to be leaving the five attorney firm I'm at in two weeks to begin a state supreme court clerkship. (Post-graduation I've stayed at the firm as a law clerk). I do not have a position lined up for post-clerkship, but would like to return to the firm I'm at. I'm pretty close with the managing partner, FWIW. Any suggestions for how to approach asking for a position when I have a final meeting with my boss? Thanks!!

How did you not bring this up when applying for the clerkship? Did you have a recent change of heart about staying?

OP here. I got the clerkship shortly after I starting working as a law clerk for the firm, so they were not in a position at that time to evaluate whether it not I'd be brought on board.
