I'm not sure if you have heard about :

the recently announced initiative by the New York Court of Appeals, starting in the spring of 2015, whereby law students will be permitted to take the New York bar exam in February of their last semester of law school and then immediately enter a 12 credit externship course. The Externship - Pro Bono Scholars Program requires students to provide full time pro bono legal services on behalf of indigent clients for 12 weeks (March 2, 2015 - May 22, 2015). Thus, by June of your third year of law school you will have taken/passed the New York Bar, had 3 months of actual legal practice graduated, met your pro bono requirement, and graduated. (copied from school email)

I was curious how this would play out if someone did this but was also going into big law. Do you think big law would offer starting earlier (June) instead of the typical Sep-oct? Alternatively, what COULD you do during that summer (June -Oct) besides relax, travel, etc?

General thoughts?
