Hustling as a 2L T40 median, secondary market

This summer I have been focusing on networking with as many lawyers as possible. I have 8 lunches/meetings set up over the next 2 weeks with 6 partners, 1 managing partner, and 1 fourth-year associate at different midlaw firms. I know that my grades and school are going to preclude me from being selected for the vast majority of SA positions. Obviously I am still going to do my best to get a paying gig for next summer. Is there anything else I can do besides be prepared and charming?

I think you are being proactive which is great. The thing I've noticed after SAing at two mid law firms is that fit is VERY important. I had great grades from a ttt and then top 20%ish grades at UT...at the end of the day, that didnt matter. I had multiple attorneys tell me that they were basically looking for someone they could tolerate for long hours and maybe get a beer with. So, definitely be knowledgable, humble, and approachable. Do not assume you are unqualified based on grades because, like I said, fit seems to matter more for mid law. Also, everyone seems to indicate that mid law is some kind of mythical beast that exists only in the minds of delusional law students. Not true. There are plenty of mid law firms out there, but often you have to find them.
