Picking a Practice Group (poll)

V15 NY

M&A: intense hours and sometimes offputting personalities.

Or

Banking: better? hours and people I clicked with more.

Does the people aspect of things really matter, on the associate side? The reason I ask is they probably mostly leave by year 4, right?

Not sure which kind of work I'd prefer, honestly. I get the sense that the jr associate roles are similar. Exits better at M&A, I think.

Voting is welcome, but your deeper perspectives would be especially helpful.

OP here. I guess I should be a bit more specific.

Are the exit opportunities for M&A actually better? I could be wrong, but don't corporations usually do financing transactions more frequently than acquisitions?

And how does banking compare to an equity/debt markets division, which focuses on SEC and non-SEC filings (exit opportunities-wise)?

I'd love to hear some insight into this for your sake. But TLS is a pretty dead place from the time you posted 'til this afternoon so wait it out patiently. I doubt you have to choose right now. :)

What toothbrush said: bump this up late morning/early afternoon, you should get more responses.
Personally, I think the people aspect is extremely important - I went with a group that wasn't my original first choice, for this reason - but I'm not going into either of these practice areas and I'm sure people who are will have more useful input!
