3.67 @ P Bidlist Critique Targeting NY

Where does 3.67 put me @ P? Thoughts and suggestions about my bid list are greatly appreciated.
Am I wasting my time on firms like Covington, Cravath, S&C, and Wachtell?

Do you want litigation or corporate? If litigation, Paul Weiss and Boise Schiller are glaring omissions. Plus PW has a large class size.
If corporate, you're probably good assuming you haven't ranked firms really poorly.

Same anon is above. Just want to make sure I have enough safety/ match/ reaches which is the reason for the ordering. I am corporate so no Boies for me. Thanks for the responses so far.

you should take out all london-based firms since NY is more or less an outpost of london
also, with a 3.67 @ penn, is this LR material?
just wondering since if you got LR then you're probably good for wachtell too

This is bad advice.
1) Some Magic Circle firms (e.g. Freshfields) have solid NYC offices - they may not be as heavy as the Cravaths, etc. in NYC, but they're definitely worth a look and a safety bid.
2) 3.67 @ Penn is not "probably good" for wachtell - that shouldn't necessarily stop OP from placing a bid there, but at Columbia/NYU they recruit almost exclusively from the top 5%, and I would assume it's that / higher standard out of Penn. Also, Wachtell doesn't care AT ALL about Law Review (people I've spoken with there say as much), except that it perhaps indicates that you have a high GPA if you graded on.

How are you calculating your GPA, out of curiosity? Given that we don't know median or what e.g. an A+ represents on a 4.0 scale.

Sorry for the confusion, but I did not say I graded on to LR in my initial post. LR has not notified any of us yet as far as I know...
I self-calculated my GPA with a standard scale. 4.0 = A, 3.7 = A- etc. to give myself an idea of what it is. Didn't include A+s since I didn't have any.
Are Cravath, S&C in play with these kind of grades?

Last year people with your grades got callbacks at Cravath and S&C. If you are K-JD, you are on the lower end of what they will hire. If you have good work experience, an offer is quite possible. OCI is unpredictable, so consider bumping up less exclusive firms with large class sizes as safeties (Schulte, maybe Milbank fits this description but I don't know).

I agree with the notion of dropping the Magic Circle firms in terms of priority. Other than that, I think your composition and bid order is pretty solid. As was already mentioned, S&C and Cravath are reaches but definitely possible. Skadden tends to be less grade conscious, and DPW usually extends a fair amount of offers at Penn.
