Why the Chicago? Do you have ties? I'm just starting my own bid list, but they kind of just seem like a waste unless you either are a shoe-in or don't bid Chicago more heavily.

I was worried about just doing DC so I decided to throw in some Chicago is that a bad idea?

Re: Criticize my bid list
If you're in the bottom 25% you don't have any chance at Williams & Connolly and it's really not even worth the bid. I think the same can be said for S&C, Boies and probably Gibson as well? Some others can probably chime in on that.

I doubt he's at Y if he's estimating class rank. I have absolutely no idea how you would even come close to an estimate with all of one semester of and gradesYukos wrote:He's either H or Y.wert3813 wrote:reread the prompt.SLS_AMG wrote:If you're in the bottom 25% you don't have any chance at Williams & Connolly and it's really not even worth the bid. I assume you mean that you are from HLS Can you be more specific about your grades? There's a lot of HLS alumni/2L/3Ls and we can, perhaps, be a bit more precise if you are.Anonymous User wrote:I'll stop the speculation I'm from HLS.

Re: Criticize my bid list
There was a relevant discussion yesterday in the Quinn Emanuel thread about what is top third. Everyone seemed to think it was somewhere between 5 and 7H but the takeaway is that nobody really has any idea.
ph, any thoughts?

Re: Criticize my bid list
Try not to double dip firms in different locations--when I got one of my offers, they said the reason it was taking so long is that they wanted to make sure that I would get an offer at both before offering me one--seems like it might hurt your chances. You do this with Mayer and Sidley.
Also, Why did you pick those Chicago firms over the others?
Why DLA Piper?

Re: Criticize my bid list
Your grades will get you seriously considered by almost every firm on your list. I think your list for DC looks good.
Not sure if bidding Chicago firms is worth your while if you do not have ties and aren't serious about going there (interviewers often ask where else you bid). I also didn't listen to OCS and interviewed in 3 different cities. After the first city, I was exhausted during the rest of my interviews. Just my experience, but I'd focus on one city or maybe bid NY if you are worried about getting no offers in DC.

Re: Criticize my bid list
I think this is a bit optimistic. I would move Boies down and get rid of W&C at least. I'm not sure what S&C's grade cutoff is, but it might be worth it to bid them higher to make sure to get a screener, given the high ratio of callbacks to offers.jrf12886 wrote:Your grades will get you seriously considered by almost every firm on your list. Let me restate my statements/questions. This is a list of firms I am interested in. Is this a good list of firms to now move forward and rank, or are there firms I should not rank at all/firms that I should add?Anonymous User wrote:This isn't a bid list. Re: Criticize my bid list
Make a bidlist first. A lot depends on where you rank it, etc. I wouldn't say take off S&C completely if, for example, you can safely fit it #30 or something.Anonymous User wrote:Let me restate my statements/questions. Re: Criticize my bid list
This list looks good to me, although I might not be as confident about the super super super competitive firms. HLS doesn't tell us what our class ranks are so it is really a guessing game. (This actually annoys me sometimes because it makes it harder to know just how competitive you are.)
That said, I agree that you should replace Chicago with NYC unless you have a very good reason for preferring Chicago.
