Has anyone been in contact with Quinn or any other firm with an unusual recruiting strategy?
And has anyone heard back from OCS regarding their bid lists? When should we be anticipating these coming back?

I received an e-mail over a week ago to schedule a phone call to review the list, and reviewed my list this past week over the phone with them. Don't expect too much though - they clearly don't have the time to review each list in depth.

From what I've heard, you should listen to the little hints career services gives you. Since they aren't transparent with the bidding information like Columbia is, they'll try to tell you subtly.Anonymous User wrote:I received an e-mail over a week ago to schedule a phone call to review the list, and reviewed my list this past week over the phone with them. That doesn't mean you shouldn't do your independent research though

It may vary by counselor, but mine was very transparent when I asked questions. I just said that they hadn't reviewed each of my slots in depth, as some firms they recommended I add were already in there, etc.

What's the consensus/strategy on bidding non-NY markets (specifically asking about LA and Chicago)?
Must they be in our top 10 or 5? Or can we get away with bidding lower?

Is getting "conflicted out" something I should be worried about? My top 30 are pretty balanced between the 3 days but I'd hate to lose one of my latter ones because of a restrictive schedule put into place by my higher bids.

Allegedly the grade conscious LAs didnt fill all of their interview slots last year (GDC, Irell, MTO, Latham, etc)Anonymous User wrote:What's the consensus/strategy on bidding non-NY markets (specifically asking about LA and Chicago)?

I realize I'm getting a bit ahead of myself but does anyone know how exactly the add/drop interview signup works after we get our lists? I'm already regretting some decisions in my rankings.

In a similar boat, regretting some decisions as well. I'm assuming OCS will notify us about the procedure but I could be wrong about that.Anonymous User wrote:I realize I'm getting a bit ahead of myself but does anyone know how exactly the add/drop interview signup works after we get our lists? Any knowledge from previous years about how many firms are available through waitlist/open signup?

If you can't see the "OCI" tab that means your bids aren't saved.Anonymous User wrote:Anonymous User wrote:Now I'm second guessing whether my bids saved, even though I know it does it automaticallyGo look...sorry, the day after bids were due that tab was still up and I was able to see that my bids had saved. really though there are other more important things to worry about. Don't sweat the small stuff.

Re: NYU EIW Madness 2014
waitlist: basically, for all of the firms you did NOT get interviews with, you can either click "opt in" or leave it as "opt out." I believe that you get assigned interviews based on original bid position, so if I bid White and Case at 10 initially and you bid them 11, I get the interview before you. These interviews come from a pool of dropped interviews.Anonymous User wrote:I realize I'm getting a bit ahead of myself but does anyone know how exactly the add/drop interview signup works after we get our lists? Add/drop: it's a 10 minute free for all to pick any firm regardless of whether you bid them to begin with. There are a relatively good number of firms available, but they're often secondary market things and lesser bid NY firms (like non-V100 NY firms with class sizes under 5, and a number of Palo Alto firms). Another big issue is that you will often be conflicted out of interview slots. This might be a bit better this year because I think OCS did a better job of spreading out popular firms' interview days. Last year, it was common to have 11 interviews on each of the first two days, and only have 3-5 on the third day. I don't think it will be so lopsided this year.
