Any shot? Deep roots in TX, T6, a few loose social/organizational connections to a major partner

Unlikely. Keep in mind, too, that you need a federal clerkship to get a post-graduation offer there, and below median at T6 is far from guaranteed to get one.

I'm 100% set on doing a federal clerkship, not that that guarantees anything. I'll basically do it in Alaska if that's all I can get, so I figure with so many judges in undesirable locations, I'm bound to find some district court taker somewhere.

You're below median at T6. Again, it's far from guaranteed. I don't know why you would want to go from a firm anyways that's going to be that high risk given your stats. How far below median are we talking?

Likely right at the 25% mark; maybe a touch over. Striking out at OCI isn't a huge deal for me though b/c the firm I worked at at (V30) has already extended me an offer for next summer.

If you're at a non-HYS T6 and outside the top third if not top quarter, a federal district court is an extreme long shot, not something "you're bound to find." There's plenty of people in the top 25% willing to clerk in Alaska for a year. I don't think you realize how insanely competitive it is to get a job at Susman. Like 80% of the associates are COA clerks, and it's a place where top 10% at CCN is on the outside looking in unless they bring something else to the table.

Alaska is actually a desirable location. you're not going to get any district court with below median at t6. i know people at median or higher at HYS who had trouble getting clerkships.

Which is basically to say unless your loose connection is pictures of Steve Susman doing something he'd be ashamed to be seen doing (which honestly doesn't seem like much--gotta love the guy) the answer is no

I was actually serious. Turned out what I was saying was absurd, but I was serious.

Getting any biglaw will be a challenge, let alone a top lit boutique or a federal clerkship...

You might be able to pull out a federal district court, and there are great litigation firms in TX besides Susman. You need to kill it 2L and 3L, do a year at your V30, and apply as an alum.
