If they told us grades Wednesday should be be ready tomorrow?
No clue. Maybe. They said grades would be released on Wednesday? They seem to have released grades on the stated date recently, but you never know.wert3813 wrote:If they told us grades Wednesday should be be ready tomorrow?
What markets move quicker than others for offering CBs? Obviously NYC is known to move quick. What about the others?ph14 wrote:No clue. Maybe. They said grades would be released on Wednesday? From my experience, DC is pretty quick.wert3813 wrote:What markets move quicker than others for offering CBs? Obviously NYC is known to move quick. What about the others?ph14 wrote:No clue. Maybe. Chill yourself out for interviews. Your grades are fine. I had much worse and no problems getting a DC offer.Anonymous User wrote:So what should I do if I want DC?

You have strong grades. Bid all the D.C. firms (including the relatively less selective firms) but also bid on some NY firms just in case. I expect that you will get D.C., though.Anonymous User wrote:So what should I do if I want DC?

You will probable be fine, even without ties. You probably already know this, but don't go "all in" on wanting to do appellate work. It's fine to indicate an interest but make sure you also indicate interest in other, less selective, practice areas.anonymous wrote:Litigation (esp. appellate eventually). No ties to D.C. at all, just a hope to do appellate work. I don't want to say where my ties are because they would out me to classmates, but nowhere useful.ph14 wrote:You have strong grades. Are you interested in litigation or transactional? Where are your ties?
I would talk to OCS. You're at (roughly) median, which isn't a bad position to be in, but I would personally feel better hedging my bets in your situation. I would think a mix of D.C./NYC (or other market where you have ties) would be the best bidding strategy for you. You don't have a great shot at the very selective D.C. firms so make sure to bid strategically.Anonymous User wrote:Also wanting DC but grades are not nearly as good. 4H/6P. K-JD. I think I'm a pretty good interviewer FWIW.
Thanks so much in advance for anyone's help. I'll try to repay the favor as much as possible.
Pretty much the same as above. You probably can snag D.C., but it's not guaranteed so make sure to hedge your bets.Anonymous User wrote:Opinion on DC with 5 Hs and 5Ps
Thanks for anonymizing that if you did that. I don't know how to internet. And thanks for the advice!ph14 wrote:You will probable be fine, even without ties (I got an offer or two there and I also have no ties). I'm going to skip the D.C. questions as I'm not too knowledgeable about that market, beyond what I already posted and my sense that anyone who isn't significantly above median should be strategic when it comes to bidding D.C. Hopefully someone familiar with the D.C. market can be more helpful.Anonymous User wrote:Does having Ps both semesters in LRW materially hurt my chances for litigation jobs? With respect to Ps in LRW: I don't think it's going to materially hurt you if your grades are solid otherwise. I think that, while LRW might be slightly more important to litigation firms, it's not significantly more important and isn't going to give you any result disproportionate to your overall grades. How are your grades?
You have 8Hs, so you're sitting in a good position. You might get asked about it (it goes without saying but don't be defensive). I doubt a firm will not want to hire you because you got 2 Ps in LRW. Maybe the very top litigation firms might have some sort of hesitancy, but I doubt it. With 8 Hs, I think your interviews will be more important.Anonymous User wrote:I have Hs in everything elseph14 wrote:I'm going to skip the D.C. questions as I'm not too knowledgeable about that market, beyond what I already posted and my sense that anyone who isn't significantly above median should be strategic when it comes to bidding D.C. I'm on the fence about lit/corporate right now so I was thinking I may as well package myself as being interested in corporate if that gives me a better shot.
bump - advice about either city would be much appreciated!Anonymous User wrote:how about URM w/ WE, good interviewing, ties to DC/NY and HYP UG; 1DS/5H/4P - DC/NY litigation
