Top 45% at a T-1, secondary journal and moot court. I am interested in natural resources/ oil and gas/ environmental law.

Wanted to get TLS feedback on what markets I should target for 2L summer jobs. Denver and Houston look like the two best spots.

I really haven't considered other areas. This summer I have worked on bankruptcy and employment cases. They don't seem too awful and I liked my admin class. I think I would be happy with whatever I end up doing, with the excepting being doc review.

I like the court room but I also like the idea of putting deals together.

My main focus is getting a job

If you're region-ambivalent and just want a job, I'd really suggest looking at anywhere other than Denver coming from out of state. There's just not many jobs that hire after 2L summer/during 3L year. So you'd be looking at moving here after graduation without a job in hand and whatever network you may have made the prior summer. I can't say that's a good idea.

Do you know the best markets for those types of jobs?

If you don't have ties to a market you're going to be fighting an uphill battle. You need a sales pitch. Your grades and focus make you a mediocre candidate absent experience and ties to an area. Ask yourself, where did I grow up? Where did I go to college? Where am I going to law school? Do I have a believable reason to be committed to practicing somewhere else (a significant others hometown, for example)?

Focus on those places.

Bankruptcy + courtroom? Son, welcome to Delaware. Though with those grades from a T1 firm SAs that lead to offers are, well, not likely.
