Is this a good messenger bag?

Most messenger bags are pretty big, able to carry laptops and such but I don't plan on carrying laptops. Possibly carrying an ipad or just a portfolio. Do you guys think this will be sufficient? I am a male btw, not sure if it looks too girly.

Tumi is a high-quality line, but as for looks or function you'll have to determine that on your own. Go into a luggage or leather store (or a department store) and try it out.

Swiss Army also makes very nice bags; many students (including yours truly) love their backpacks.

You might also consider Cole Haan's canvas messenger bags. They are not only durable and functional, but stylish.

Last but not least, consider the Saddleback line.

Are you going to be a messenger? If so, this bag is probably too small to suit all your messengering needs.

Are you going to be an attorney? Get a briefcase.

Are you going to look like the guy in Suits? No. No, you won't.

If I saw someone carrying that, I'd think its a purse. Also, if its only 9h x 9.5w, can it even hold paper without folding it?

"Purse" was my first thought, too. Evidently that's intentional:

"The best-selling Voyageur collection offers streamlined and sophisticated feminine styling with smart details in lightweight designs."

And no, this won't even hold A4 paper, never mind 8.5" x 11"

You may want to try (regr)etsy. They actually have some nice bags for the same price you're looking at.

I like my Jack Spade bag my wife got me, and it was about that price, maybe a bit more. And it will actually function as a bag in the real world.

That's very similar to what I have and it works great.

Edit - my interior is solid blue, not that horrid design.

Damn, I would jump on that, because I really need a briefcase, but that interior is really, really bad.

That interior is sick. The gross part is the red accent.

That's the one I have/had before my dog chewed up the corner.

It's functional enough, but it's kind of a pain to open. I probably would not buy it again.

Don't buy Kenneth Cole. It's terrible quality leather.

Honestly I'd mostly avoid looking for messenger bags on Amazon because Amazon tends not to sell a ton of good quality bags.
