Yeah, so ... I'll be interning with a Federal Agency. I already had an FBI background check and passed the clearance. They have not said anything about a drug test, but in the pamphlets I received from them it states that I will have a drug test and simple common sense indicates I'll be drug tested.

That being said, I have 2 weeks before I began my internship and have not yet been drug tested. Will they force me to pee in a cup as soon as I walk onto the premises? Will they call me a day before I begin and ask me to perform a drug test at a particular location?

Any one with similar experiences help? I'd like to know when I will be drug tested if there is t-13 days until I begin and have not yet received any word.

Non-law enforcement / military government employees are rarely drug tested. That said, they clearly can drug test you, and I wouldn't risk doing anything that would come up positive. Just abuse alcohol until you work in the private sector like most other gov't employees.

Pot takes about 30 days to clear from your pee. If you're worried, but some bulk test kits online and check. Use your first morning piss. Once that morning piss comes clean, you're in the clear.

No one knows if / when you'll get tested.

They did this to me. They will remember about a week after you start to go and take a drug test. Hold off on all drugs until about a month in, or the drug test occurs, whichever comes first. Also, buy synthetic urine. Shit works.

Getting caught tampering with your sample would be WAY worse than testing positive, though, and I wouldn't trust myself to be able to do so undetected. (Depends on your criminal experience, I guess.)

Yeah, it's definitely nerve racking. If you secure It properly and keep it at the right temperature, should be pretty straight forward, however. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

That said, stay off mj if you can. Not worth the anxiety.

I clerked at a non-DOJ federal agency and never did a drug test, but they did do a colonoscopy/background check on the last 7 years of my life.

Do not tamper with your sample or use fake pee.

Do refrain from using drugs for 30-45 days prior to testing.

If you know you'll test positive, then try to get your hands on some baby piss. The only downside, which is a big one, is that you'll get caught and have a major character and fitness issue to overcome.

In addition: fuck the government I got my own deficit.

Do they give you advance warning for civilian jobs? In the military, we find out day of, and they have someone literally watch the urine exit the body and enter the bottle.

For randoms they tell you that you have 4 hours to report to a facility. For a job, it's obviously presumed upon hiring.

Civilian positions are rarely randomly drug tested, in my experience. I've seen it happen though.

I got 48 hours notice for a USAO drug test.

I've interned with two federal agencies and was not drug tested for either.

You should probably never smoke if you're working for the feds. Word of advice.
