Hello fellow TLSers, I'm a 1L who just finished with exams and I have a quandary I'm hoping you guys can help with. I'm in a top 10 school with grades around the top 25%.
I was contacted to do a final round interview with a law firm. It seems to be BigLaw but it's not vault 100. I think it has around 4-500 attorneys total throughout 10 or so offices. I'm supposed to interview this week and I have no idea how it's going to go.
On the other hand, I have an internship with a judge locked down. I'm due to start first week of June.
All other things aside, should I even interview with the firm? If I decide not to, I could potentially go home 2 or so days faster than if I interviewed.
What should I do?
Stick to the possibility of 3k a week? or just go with the judge?

possibility of splitting summer? I know judge internship is pretty flexible, some lets you stay as little as 5 weeks (or 6), then do 8-10 weeks at firm.
I recommend do the interview, at least for the experience to prepare for 2L OCI

how big a deal is the money to you? There's no way to reneg on an internship with a judge without burning a bridge

True, but I think the possibility of a full time position at the firm post-graduation is more than worth burning that bridge.

It very well could be, we need more info about the firm. how often do 1L positions transition into 2L positions into after-graduation employment?

Definitely interview. No question there. If it pays, it's a better use of your 1L summer. If you get an offer, then you can make the tough decision. Which, again, I think you should take the firm regardless of whether they typically bring back 1Ls for their 2L summer. Reneging on a judge for an internship is not a big deal. When people talk about burning bridges, they mean clerkships. A judge can easily find another unpaid grunt.
