Informal Interview--what to wear

I have an informal interview monday with a partner of a smallish law firm. I already have a biglaw offer to go to but am very interested in this job. I sent them my resume and they offered to meet with me over coffee. Fwiw, they seem like a very laid back firm, so I was thinking maybe slacks and button down? Don't wanna show up in a dark suit looking super formal and make them think I'm not a good fit. Also don't want to underdress. Thoughts?

I've gone on a good amount of informal/informational interviews. Business casual (slacks and a dress shirt) have always worked well. I've never felt too under or over dressed meeting someone for coffee in business casual.

cool. That's what I was thinking. I honestly think w/ this type of situation/firm, overdressing could be kind of bad. Like they will think I'm super up tight and stuffy or something (even tho I don't come off that way at all).
My girlfriend also recommended nice jeans w/ loafers, a button down, and a blazer. I think jeans may be stretching it though (even if they are nice...)

Definitely no jeans, but I'd probably take her advice on a nice blazer... it would be a bit more formal than just the button down alone, but I don't think anyone would see a blazer as too formal/stuffy.

in her defense nice jeans with a blazer tends to be the more modern business casual approach, but with law still being on the very far end of the conservative end, you're best to go with khakis and a sport coat.
